Cavendish Farms' History: 25 Years of Quality
- 1980: C.M. MacLean's plant in Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada was purchased by the Irving Group. A contest was run to give a new name to the company now being operated by the Irving's. The winning entry was "Cavendish Farms."
- 1994: Cavendish Farms moved away from processing frozen vegetables to concentrate on frozen potato products with a vision of becoming "The Potato Specialists."
- 1996: A second processing facility on P.E.I. was constructed, doubling processing capacity.
- 2001: The purchase of a new potato processing plant in North Dakota made Cavendish Farms the fourth largest frozen potato processor in North America.
- 2002: Cavendish Farms launched a revolutionary product innovation, Always CrispTM, a patented battered product that retains heat longer, resists moisture and takes just 20 seconds to reheat in a home microwave if needed, without losing taste or crispness.
- 2005: Cavendish Farms is taking the lead in meeting consumer demand for healthier products. With a push for "no trans fats", we are making it our mission this year to switch the production of all of our products over to non-hydrogenated oils, thereby eliminating the trans fat, and providing the consumers with a healthier alternative.
2005: Cavendish Farms Today: 25th Anniversary!! It has been 25 years since our inception, and while Cavendish Farms has grown, we have not forgotten our roots.
