- 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef stock
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 cup green beans, steamed, for serving Lingonberry jam, for serving
- 2 tbsp dill or parsley, chopped (to garnish)
Directions
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- Spread Straight Cut Fries in air fryer basket and cook according to packaging instructions.
- To prep meatballs, melt 1 tbsp of butter in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until softened and golden, about 5 – 7 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, egg, milk, cooked onions, breadcrumbs, allspice, and nutmeg. Season generously with salt and pepper. Mix well until combined and roll into small, ping pong-sized meatballs. Transfer to a lined baking sheet.
- Heat 2 tbsp of butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8 - 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
- Whisk flour into the remaining butter in the skillet to form a roux. Cook for 1 – 2 minutes. Gradually add beef stock, whisking until smooth. Simmer until thickened, then stir in cream. Season to taste.
- Return meatballs to skillet and coat in gravy. Simmer on low until warmed through if needed.
- Serve meatballs and gravy with cooked Straight Cut Fries, steamed green beans, and a spoonful of lingonberry jam. Garnish with fresh dill or parsley!
